COPE & Climbing Instructor II Training

The course is designed to build upon the Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE) & Climbing Level II Foundations and will focus on the COPE Instructor Level II competencies. Our training goal is to ensure that you can safely and effectively lead MCC Unit, District, and Council COPE activities held at either Belk Scout Camp or Mecklenburg Scout Reservation (MSR). Training will be conducted following the BSA “Belay On” Manual, National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP) Standards, and MCC’s COPE & Climbing Program Policies and Procedures.

This COPE Level II course is intended for BSA registered adults (by invitation only) who meet the above prerequisites and are interested in teaching COPE initiatives and leading COPE related activities utilizing both High & Low COPE Course Elements. Upon successful completion of the course (to include demonstrating COPE Level II competencies), adults will receive their BSA “COPE Instructor Level II” training card.

Please note that this course will only focus on COPE Initiatives and High & Low COPE Course Elements and will not cover Climbing Level II competencies and natural rock climbing/rappelling or anchor set-up/safety.

This is an invitation only course. Please email Sasha Timkovich about registering.
