Kodiak X is the final step in Venturing's Nature of Leadership series, which began with learning introductory leadership skills in the Venturing Leadership Skills Course, followed by Kodiak, a much more in-depth leadership course done in conjunction with a trek or trip. Known locally as Top Gun, National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program designed for councils to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.

NYLT is a six-day course. Content is delivered in a troop and patrol outdoor setting with an emphasis on immediate application of learning in a fun environment. Interconnecting concepts and work processes are introduced early, built upon, and aided by the use of memory aids, which allows participants to understand and employ the leadership skills much faster.

The National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) is an exciting program where young men enhance their leadership skills in the Philmont backcountry. Scouts will expand upon team-building and ethical decision-making skills learned in National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT).
