The
Junior Leader Training Conference is a week-long
experience for boy leaders to provide a meaningful
development for all participants to enhance their
knowledge and skills and to create a deeper
understanding of their roles and responsibilities as
troop junior leaders.
Our
Council's training committee assumes the
responsibility for overseeing that the conference is
adequately promoted. The key to successful
promotion is personal contact with each Scoutmaster to
point out the advantages of junior leader training for
the senior patrol leader or other candidates for this
position. Participants do not have to be serving
currently in the role of senior patrol leader, but
should have the skills and abilities to do so in the
future.
The
Youth Staff members of our course in 1998 chose the
"Top Gun" movie to represent the theme for
our Junior Leader Training Conference. This
theme provides our Staff their personal ambition to
train, prepare, and present to our participants:
"Scouting at its Best". The success of
our Conference is beyond what is imaginable. It
is considered an honor to be chosen to represent your
Unit and our Council as a participant for Top Gun.
It is an even greater opportunity to be asked to serve
on staff for this Course, and thereby representing
"The Best of the Best."
You
can become one of Top Gun's "Best of the
Best" as a participant, after which you may
become active on our Staff, and / or contribute in our
efforts to teach the 11 Skills of
Leadership. For more information about Getting
Involved either as a Youth or as an Adult see the tool
bar below.
