The Boy Scouts of America has developed online training for several basic skill and certification courses. Cub Scout Fast Start, Boy Scout Fast Start and Venturing Fast Start online courses are an excellent alternative to the classroom training.

Two certification courses are also available online, Youth Protection and Aquatics Safety (Safe Swim Defense/Safety Afloat). The Mecklenburg County Council believes that the classroom environment is better for the first time you take these certification courses. The classroom provides you with the opportunity to ask questions and get clear answers. These certifications are good for two years and the online courses are excellent alternative for re-certification.
