Online Training

The Boy Scouts of America has developed online training for several basic skill and certification courses. These online courses are excellent alternatives to the classroom courses and you can take them in the convenience of your home. A high speed internet connection, while not required, makes the experience much more enjoyable.

New Leader Essentials has been replaced with This is Scouting. Cub Scout Fast Start, Boy Scout Fast Start and Venturing Fast Start online courses are an excellent alternative to the classroom training. Troop Committee Challenge is available online and will no longer be offered in the classroom environment.

Several certification courses are also available online, Youth Protection, Climb on Safely, Trek Safely, and Aquatics Safety (Safe Swim Defense/Safety Afloat). The Mecklenburg County Council believes that the classroom environment is better for the first time you take these certification courses. The classroom provides you with the opportunity to ask questions and get clear answers. These certifications are good for two years and the online courses are excellent alternative for re-certification.

If you need assistance with these online training courses call the BSA Online Helpdesk at 1-972-580-2267.
